“Radical Light” has new sound

You can experience Norwegian artist Anne Katrine Senstad’s light installation “Radical Light” at Kai until July 5th. Specially designed for Kai’s space and one of Europe’s largest neon light sculptures, it invites the viewer to experience the effects of sound and light that profoundly change the perception of space. The weekly cultural paper Sirp recently featured an in-depth interview with artist Anne Katrine Senstad and our Artistic Director Karin Laansoo. The full interview in English is available here.

We’re glad to announce that the video interview with Anne Senstad by Stella Saarts, commissioned by Kai Art Center, is now included in the Norwegian Video Archive. The archive contains over 2500 video works of all genres from the 1960’s up to today which have either been produced in Norway or which have a connection to Norway. In the near future the archive will be part of The National Library of Norway.

From June 10th to 14th, the exhibition at Kai will feature music composed by Sander Shifter who was the winner of the competition for a musical piece inspired by Senstad’s exhibition. From June 17th until the end of the exhibition, the installation will then be accompanied by a soundscape created by Australian composer JG Thirlwell.

The exhibition is open Wednesdays to Sundays from 12pm to 7pm. Ticket prices are 8€/5€, and on Wednesdays admission is at the discounted price of 5€ for everyone. You can get tickets at Kai Art Center or purchase them in advance. We also organize group exhibition tours by appointment — write to info@kai.center if you are interested.

Kai Art Center is closed from June 22nd to 28th. We wish everyone a happy midsummer holiday!

Kai’s exhibition hall is large and spacious and we make sure that everyone can keep a safe distance from each other. The rooms are well ventilated and cleaned frequently, and you will find disinfectants on site. Please stay home if you feel unwell or ill however!
