Kai Art Center hosts a seminar by the London based producer and curator Jacqui Davies on Saturday, December 14th from 11 am to 6 pm. The day-long talk introduces aspects of producing both art and film. It is a biographical journey through the career of Jacqui Davies, with a focus on the production of the 2018 film Ray & Liz (by artist and director Richard Billingham). The seminar includes a screening of the film.
London-based producer Jacqui Davies works with internationally acclaimed artists and filmmakers. She is the producer of multi-award-winning Ray & Liz (2018), the debut feature by Richard Billingham, and the producer of The Sky Trembles and the Earth is Afraid and the Two Eyes Are Not Brothers (2015), by Ben Rivers. She has commissioned and produced over 40 short films for Channel 4, by artists including Marina Abramović, Martha Rosler, Johan Grimonprez, Lewis Klahr, Mark Leckey and Apichatpong Weerasethakul. She is also the co-commissioner/co-producer of the Primitive Project and Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010), by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, and the Curator of the Embodied: Performance & Documentary exhibition by Nikolaj Kunsthal in association with CPH:DOX, Copenhagen.
This seminar is part of the Kai Art Center’s four-part series of artist film workshops being led by Benjamin Cook, Jacqui Davies, Andrea Luka Zimmerman, and Gareth Evans. Benjamin Cook’s workshop was held from November 21st to 22nd.
